In particular, it seems to be gathering momentum as a hangout for local families. Why? I think it has to do with the child-friendly atmosphere and the enormous amount of space on offer. It has parlour games (giant Jenga anyone?) a sandpit and lots of room for kids to do their thing while giving their parents space to eat lunch in peace. Which is always a win/win.

Kids menu: Quite a few options. Our kids had Fish + Chips and Penne Bolognaise ($12 each, with a scoop of ice-cream afterward).

The parking situation: Definitely not a problem here! You will not be able to get here any other way.
Good things to know: Mt Duneed Estate has a big lawn area out the front and kids can't seem to resist a good run-around. Inside, kids can also borrow the colouring books and pencils, play in the sandpit, with the hookie etc. The giant Jenga is great, but the pieces are quite heavy… best to keep little kids clear and supervise older kids.
Plan your trip - there are lots of great boozy options (including the new Pettavel Road craft beers). Someone has to be the designated driver! There is a word that a new beer garden is to be opened soon, adding another space to hang out.
It only takes 10-15 minutes to get to Mt Duneed Estate from Geelong (its just behind Waurn Ponds). There are roadworks on the highway, which means that it has gone down to one lane in either direction. Don't forget and drive out of Pettavel Road into oncoming traffic!
And finally, they've just opened on Fridays - it's perfect for a mothers group catchup. No need to stress about screaming babies or tantruming toddlers because everyone else there is in the same boat!
